Problem

Attempts to export a Microsoft Word 2007 or 2010 document to IBM Rational DOORS results in the error "Run-time error 5".

Symptom

When you try to export a Microsoft Word 2007 or 2010 document to Rational DOORS you may get the following error:

Run-time error ‘5’:
Invalid procedure call or argument

Cause

Content Controls are enabled in the Microsoft Word document causing the error.

This issue was identified as a product defect and logged under APAR PM69090.

Resolving The Problem


WORKAROUNDS:

Option 1:
Disable Content Controls in Microsoft Word 2007/2010 and run the export.

Option 2:
Save and convert the Microsoft Word 2007/2010 document to Microsoft Word 2003 format and run the export.
