Requesting a new KTAP module for a Linux database server system

Question & Answer

Question

What information should be provided to Guardium Technical Support team to request a new KTAP module for a Linux database server system?

Cause

If you want to install S-TAP with KTAP support on a Linux database server system with a kernel level for which there is no existing matching KTAP module, you can request a new ktap module for your kernel level, providing the Operating System is supported. You must provide some details to Guardium Support Team so the new module can be generated for your environment.

Note: Requesting a custom KTAP module to be built on average takes about 14 business days to complete.

Answer

The following information needs to be provided for each database server system you need the KTAP module for:

1. Kernel version (output of 'uname -a')
2. Operating System version (output of 'cat /etc/redhat-release' or, depending on the release 'ls /etc/*release*' and then cat the output, or 'cat /etc/issue')
3. CPU Information (output of 'cat /proc/cpuinfo')
4. Database type and version
5. Which version of Guardium S-TAP the ktap module needs to be compiled for.
