Error description
Recreation steps: (1) On the NFS server: # mkdir /nfsdir # grep nfsdir /etc/exports /nfsdir -rw,root=aix7103,access=aix7103 # exportfs -v /nfsdir exportfs: exported /nfsdir # (2) On the NFS client: [root@aix7103]# mkdir /nfsmnt [root@aix7103]# mkdir /namefs [root@aix7103]# mount nfscli:/nfsdir /nfsmnt [root@aix7103]# mount -v namefs /nfsmnt /namefs [root@aix7103]# audit start [root@aix7103]# touch /namefs/testfile [root@aix7103]# ls -l /namefs total 0 -rw-r--r-- 1 root system 0 Jan 13 2015 testfile [root@aix7103]# [root@aix7103]# rm /namefs/testfile [root@aix7103]# ls -l /namefs total 0 -rw-r--r-- 1 root system 0 Jan 13 2015 .nfs29A1 [root@aix7103]# (3) On the NFS client, the .nfsXXXX file gets renamed and remains, even after repeated attempts to remove it. [root@aix7103]# rm /namefs/.nfs29A1 [root@aix7103]# ls -l /namefs total 0 -rw-r--r-- 1 root system 0 Jan 13 2015 .nfs39A1 [root@aix7103]# rm /namefs/.nfs39A1 [root@aix7103]# ls -l /namefs total 0 -rw-r--r-- 1 root system 0 Jan 13 2015 .nfs49A1 [root@aix7103]#
Local fix
The spurious files can be deleted manually from the NFS server.
Problem summary
With an NFS server and client and audit running on the client, removing an NFS file from the client results in leaving a .nfs file that cannot be removed by the client.
Problem conclusion
Release the vnode lock that audit subsystem took for alias object.
Temporary fix
