Error message "java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException" reported when you launch XMI tool in Rhapsody

Problem

The XMI tool in IBM Rational Rhapsody fails to launch and reports an error message "java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException".

Symptom

This error message is shown when you launch the XMI tool. The files rhapsody.ini and XMI4Rhapsody.bat are correctly pointing to the installed Java version

Cause

Normally you should use only the Java version that is installed with Rhapsody, but on some Windows 64-bit systems you additionally need a 32-bit Java version to avoid this error message.

Environment

Rational Rhapsody and Java 64 bit

Resolving The Problem

Install another 32-bit Java version and change the path settings in XMI4Rhapsody.bat to point to this version.
