Troubleshooting
Problem
Administrator launches Controller Configuration. Administrator opens 'Report Server' section, and clicks green 'tick' box. An error appears.
Symptom
IBM Cognos Controller Configuration
Invalid Report Server URI.
[Details] [OK]
Error Details
The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized.
Cause
Code production issue (APAR PM71082) in Controller.
Environment
Report Server (typically the Controller application server)'s IIS website configured to allow Single Sign On (SSO).
- In other words, it is configured to use Windows authentication (i.e. NOT the default 'anonymous' authentication).
Resolving The Problem
Fix:
Upgrade to Controller 10.1.1 FP1 (10.1.1671) or later.
Workaround:
Reconfigure the report server (e.g. Controller application server)'s IIS website to use anonymous authentication.
- NOTE: This will disable single sign on (SSO).
- Steps:
- Open "Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager"
- Expand <servername>\Sites
- Select (highlight) "Default Web Site"
- Inside the right-hand window, double-click on "Authentication" modify the setting "Anonymous Authentication" to "Enabled"
- Modify the setting "Windows Authentication" to "Disabled"
