Open DOORS module results in error: CRCRD5161E Failed to load module attributes...

Troubleshooting

Problem

Attempts to open an IBM Rational DOORS module result in the error, "failed to load module attributes...".

Symptom

The full error message is as follows:

CRCRD5161E: Failed to load module attributes:No such file or directory

C:\Program Files\IBM\Rational\9.x\data\v6\...\...\m000xxxxx.mod\current.ver\types.dtc

Cause

This issue was identified as a product defect and logged under APAR PM47824.

Diagnosing The Problem

Go to the path specified by the error message on the DOORS Database server machine and check for files ending in .dtn

Resolving The Problem

Steps to resolve this problem:

  1. Stop the DOORS database server
  2. Browse to the path specified in the error message
  3. Delete the file(s) with .dtn extensions

    Example: types.dtn
  4. Make a copy of the types.dtb file in the folder
  5. Rename the file to types.dtc
  6. Start the DOORS server and attempt to open the module again

This time it should open although recent changes may be lost.

NOTE: If you do not have .dtb files, you can try renaming the .dtn files to .dtc. This will work if the .dtn files are not corrupt. If renaming the .dtn files does not resolve the issue, restore from the directory from backup or contact IBM Support.
