APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Z/VM incorrectly translates a Set File Mask (SFM) when con-
verting to a NO-OP command. The SFM is part of the Define
Extent (DX) CCW string of their translated ECKD program. Z/VM
erroneously copies the original CCW flags including IDA and CCW
data address flags from the Guest Z/VSE channel program. This
    causes a channel program check.

    ****************************************************************
A z/VSE channel program containing a Set File Mask encounters
a channel program check. The reason is that CP incorrectly
handles the Set File Mask (SFM) CCW flags when converting
to a NO-OP command. The SFM is part of the Define Extent
CCW string of their translated ECKD program. Z/VM erroneously
copies the original CCW flags including IDA and CCW data
address flags from the Guest Z/VSE channel program. This
    causes a channel program check.

Problem conclusion

  • CP's translation code has been changed to properly translate
a Guest's SFM CCW when converting to a NOP CCW.
