How to get Rational Publishing Engine to display DOORS OLE table size changes

Question & Answer

Question

How do you add or delete rows in an IBM Rational DOORS OLE table and have the results show up in the generated IBM Rational Publishing Engine document?

Cause

The IBM Rational DOORS embedded OLE table image does not automatically change to reflect row addition or removal. Rational Publishing Engine generated documents reflect the table as it is displayed in DOORS, which may not reflect the complete table.

Answer

When you edit an IBM Rational DOORS embedded OLE table to add or remove rows, the image in DOORS remains unchanged, reflecting the original number of rows.

You will need to resize the OLE in DOORS for the embedded OLE image to reflect the new number of rows.

If you do not resize the OLE, when you generate an Rational Publishing Engine (RPE) document displaying this OLE table, it will reflect the original number of rows -- that is, it will look just like the embedded OLE preview in DOORS. To get RPE to reflect the new table size, you need to resize the OLE in DOORS.

To resize the OLE, first edit it in place. Then you can resize the outside border; after that, you can resize the rest of the OLE object separately.
