Running a database recovery job the subordinate address space
(RSS) fails with message FRD4307I IC OPEN ERROR: RC=00 RSN=00
when the image copy is on tape and the block size is greater
than 32,760.

Problem conclusion

  • DRF may encounter an OPEN error on the image copy data set if
the block size is greater than 32,760 (this is called the large
block interface or LBI). This error does not occur if the DRF
parameter LBI(Y) is specified. However, this parameter isn't
needed as DRF can detect that LBI is in effect and set OPEN
flags correctly. For compatibility the LBI parameter is still
maintained but does not need to be specified.
