Error description
QMGR terminates at restart with ABEND5C6 00C90600 in CSQIREDO + 000005C6 while attempting log recovery. The QMGR is unable to locate the referenced IRH. Level 3 determined that updates to page set 0 were not always being committed from the buffer pool to the page set dataset when CLEAR QLOCAL or DELETE QLOCAL PURGE or MQCLOSE with MQCO_DELETE_PURGE were issued. This was the case if more than 10,000 nonpersistent messages existed on the queue and the QMGR was subsequently terminated abnormally (including if by CANCEL).

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of WebSphere MQ for z/OS * * Version 7 Release 0 Modification 1 and * * Release 1 Modification 0. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: If a queue containing more than 10,000 * * non-persistent messages is cleared * * using CLEAR QLOCAL or DELETE QLOCAL * * PURGE command while checkpoint * * processing is occurring and the queue * * manager subsequently terminates * * abnormally, then the queue manager may * * fail to restart, issuing abend * * 5C6-00C90600 from CSQIREDO. The queue * * manager will subsequently terminate * * issuing message CSQV086E with * * REASON=00D96001. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** When clearing a queue with more than 10,000 non-persistent messages, the page containing the queue definition may not be correctly updated. If a checkpoint is taken while the clear operation is ongoing, the deferred write processor may remove the page from the deferred-write chain without updating the page set. The page remains in the buffer pool and will be flushed out if there are further updates or if the queue manager shuts down cleanly but if the queue manager abends then the page will be left in an inconsistent state and recovery will fail at restart time. In addition, if the above problem occurs it might not result in an abend at restart, but might manifest itself as a queue that is no longer defined.
Problem conclusion
Processing has been amended to ensure that the page containing the queue definition is always written correctly. 010Y 100Y CSQIDEL3 CSQIMGE3
