Error description
Error DescriptionÏ An ABEND0C4 occurs in CSQBBDMH during processing of an MQDLTMH (Delete Message Handle verb) when a LINK to CSQBCRMH fails (in this case due to a short-on-storage condition). ERRET exit label LOADERR2 is branched to and assumes that R1 still contains the address of the parameter list. However, this is not the case as R1 has been changed by the failing LINK. It contains the abend code, S106, which would have occurred had there not been an ERRET specified on the LINK. This then results in the 0C4 failure reason code is being set for the MQDLTMH. . The ABEND0C4 PSW and REGS can be found in the dump in the SDWA pointed to by VERBX LEDATA 'CM,ASID(nnn)' . Additional symptoms: The storage error will not be addressed by this APAR, but the symptoms leading up to the 0C4 in the reported instance were: Broker joblog: IEW4000I FETCH FOR MODULE CSQBCRMH FROM DDNAME STEPLIB FAILED BECAUSE INSUFFICIENT STORAGE WAS AVAILABLE. CSV031I LIBRARY ACCESS FAILED FOR MODULE CSQBCRMH, RETURN CODE 14, REASON CODE 26110021, DDNAME STEPLIB +BIP2228E Severe error: 1044 signal received Abend file: <file name> action: abort . Local FixÏ None, other than resolving the cause of the storage shortage.
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of Websphere MQ for z/OS Version 7 * * Release 1 Modification 0. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Abend 0C4 during call to CSQBBDMH in * * CSECT CSQBPTUB (in load-module * * CSQBLB46) as a result of a failed LINK * * to CSQBCRMH. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The problem occurs when processing a MQCRTMH or MQDLTMH and the LINK to CSQBCRMH fails. ERRET exit label LOADERR2 is branched to, and here the code attempts to access the parameter list by referencing R1. However, R1 has been changed by the failing LINK. This results in an abend 0C4 when trying to set the failure reason code.
Problem conclusion
The code is changed in CSQBPTUB to copy the parmeter list address to another register prior to the LINK. 100Y CSQBPTUB IMQS23DM IMQS23DR
