Error description
When using a BATCH configuration and then launched multiple batch jobs using the same HBRWORKPATH. The ra.xml may become corrupted. On startup of multiple servers, we sometimes see the following error In the logs we can see the following: SEVERE: GBRZP6010E An Exception occurred during the creation of the raw data service ilog.rules.res.session.IlrSessionCreationException : An error occurred while the rule session was created ilog.rules.res.session.IlrSessionException : An error occurred while the rule session was called ilog.rules.res.util.IlrRemoteException : The document is not XML valid ilog.rules.res.util.IlrRemoteException : Premature end of file And the jobs abend.
Local fix
This occurs when 2 instances are sharing a work path on batch jobs in a zOS environment. The file locking mechanism is currently not sufficient to protect against another program reading the ra.xml at the same time one is writing it. In zRES we use an ENQ to protect against this, but this is missing for embedded batch. You have 2 workarounds possible: Use a separate workpath for your batch jobs Setting the HBRCONFIG=NO once a single batch job has been run. This prevents further modification of the ra.xml file. (If the config parameters were changed though, you would need another run with HBRCONFIG=YES to pick up the changes). Also please make sure that the ++HBRWORKPATH++ directory has enough space (if it is filled by log files you may encounter this type of issue as there would not be enough space for the creating of the ra.xml file).
