APAR status

  • Closed as new function.

Error description

  • Currently there are no checks to determine if the DDEFPDS DD is
allocated by the MAS. Nor are there any checks to determine if
the DDEFPDS DD in the MAS (if allocated) and in the SAS are
consistent. This enhancement will check the MAS for DDEFPDS DD
allocation and, if allocated, ensure consistency between the MAS
and the SAS when the DDEFPDS DD is allocated in both jobs.

    * USERS AFFECTED: All users of IMS Database Recovery Facility. *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The DDEFPDS DD has been required to be *
    * specified in the Recovery Sort *
    * Subordinate address space (RSS). *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: No known workarounds. *
    ****************************************************************
Requiring the DDEFPDS DD to be specified in the master address
space (MAS) requires additional coding and maintenance of the
Recovery Sort Subordinate address space procedures.

Temporary fix

Comments

  • IMS Database Recovery Facility is changed to allow the DDEFPDS
DD to be specified in the master address space (MAS). A DDEFPDS
specified in the MAS will override a DDEFPDS DD specified in the
Recovery Sort Subordinate address space (RSS). This will allow
greater flexibility in setting up recovery jobs across IMS
databases and regions without the need to change RSS procedures.
