Resolving The Problem

GTIN stands for Global Trade Item Number.  GTIN has been created to provide unique identity to an item present in two or more catalog organizations, so that two catalog organizations can interact with each other at the item level.

  
One cannot associate the same GTIN to two different Items for a particular catalog.
