COM PCA throws error while trying to login.

Troubleshooting

Problem

COM PCA throws error while trying to login.

Symptom

When COM (Call Center) client user tries to log in, it throws error and this behavior is random i.e. sometimes it errors out and other times it works fine. However, on clearing cookies from Internet Explorer browser, the problem goes away.

Resolving The Problem

Analysis: This issue will occur if and only if the user is trying to access the browser from COM client i.e. LoginThroughBrowser would be set to "Y" in locations.ycfg file. RCP infrastructure has a limit of 64 characters as cookie length.

So if cookie's length exceed 64 characters (which is a common case if the customer uses Google AdSense or Google Analytics), then this issue will arise.

Resolution: Verify the cookies length using following steps:

1. Open corresponding URL in Internet Explorer, which is being accessed via COM client
2. Type following in URL bar and hit enter
javascript:document.write
and
javascript:alert(document.cookie)

If cookie's length exceeds 64 characters, then make change in custom code.
