Cognos : CAM-AAA-0023 - The parameter 'id' is invalid error when executing Sterling reports

Resolving The Problem

Cause:
This error is thrown when encryption keys were expired. By default the expiry date is set to 365 days in Cognos configuration. The timestamp of the files in signkeypair and encryptkeypair directories of the install's configuration directory (crn_location/configuration) might have been a year old. Usually these files get recreated when the application is restarted and Cognos configuration is launched.

Resolution:
1. Launch Cognos Configuration.
2. Export the current configuration to a clear text file. Ex: config_export.xml
In Cognos Configuration click File -> Export As....

Note: The exported file will contain all passwords and user information in clear text, so be sure to protect it from unauthorized access!

3. Stop Cognos service.
4. Exit Cognos Configuration.
5. Delete/Backup the current configuration
For Cognos ReportNet: ./configuration/crnstartup.xml
For Cognos 8: ./configuration/cogstartup.xml
6. Copy/Move the backup file config_export.xml into./configuration directory.
7. Rename the backup file config_export.xml to

For ReportNet: ./configuration/crnstartup.xml
For Cognos 8: ./configuration/cogstartup.xml

8. Delete/Backup the three keystore directories
- ./configuration/csk
- ./configuration/encryptkeypair
- ./configuration/signkeypair
9. Delete/Backup the ./temp/cam/freshness file.
10. Launch Cognos Configuration and save configuration

This will result in recreation of the keystores in the respective directories.
There is no need to re-enter passwords because they are all saved in the backup file.
After the last step of saving configuration, all passwords in the new crnstartup.xml/cogstartup.xml file will be re-encrypted again.
