Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: * * All PDSE users. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: * * Canceling a job while a PDSE is being opened can result in * * PDSE failing to release a latch, which will eventually be * * released by the end of memory resource manager. This has a * * side effect of causing other open attempts for the same PDSE * * to be delayed until the latch is eventually release. * * The condition is normally indicated by both a IGW038A * * message indicating potential problems and following a PDSE * * ANALYSIS invocation, a IGW031I PDSE ANALYSIS report with the * * message "++ Unable to latch DIB". When the latch is in this * * state, issuing a PDSE REFRESH of the affected data set is * * not advised, as it will prevent further PDSE ANALYSIS * * commands from executing until the latch condition has been * * resolved. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * ****************************************************************
Problem conclusion
Ensured the latch is released appropriately. KEYWORDS: PDSE/K
