Troubleshooting
Problem
ALL EXPORT TO EXCEL OUTPUT IS HIGHLY SLOW
Symptom
SLOWNESS
Cause
On this particular AIX system the following environment variable is set :
MALLOCTYPE=watson
This memory allocation setting is causing the issue.

Comparing the user environment
Resolving The Problem
Remove this environment variable and restart Cognos
Note :
By removing this they will revert back to the default allocation policy.
