Compatibility of DCS with scanners and RF guns -

Resolving The Problem

If it is just a barcode scanner used in a pack station or a manifest station, any scanner which can scan the bar code symbology of the printed barcode (code 3 of 9, I 2 of 5, UCC128, ..) will do.

RF must support VT terminal emulation (VT100/VT220) which would allow us to emulate on a unix platform.

RF guns are required to have function keys (F1-F6) to be compatible with DCS. It is recommended that the scanners have more than 12 function keys. Warehouse users seem to get confused when function keys are mapped differently on the RF guns as opposed to the CRT terminals.

From the field: Symbol (Broder) and Intermec (ScanSource) scanners work with Yantra. Either seem to work well.
For DCS, one tested setup includes:
RF Access Base Spectrum 24 Access Points
RF Scanners Symbol LDT 6840
Handheld Scanners Symbol LS 1000


For 7x, terminals supported include Pocket PC 2003 OS, Windows CE 4.1 OS and above, and VT220 emulation software
Note: Yantra 7x is specifically tested with Symbol PPC8846, Symbol PDT8146, and Symbol VRC7900 series.
Keys Space, Backspace, Tab, Enter, Arrow keys, 0-9, A-Z, a-z, Function keys (F1-F12), and Special Symbols such as !@#$%^&*()-_+=[]\<>?/.,. The special symbols are required only if the data (for fields such as Item ID, Location ID, and Shipment Number) use special characters.
Barcode Scanner The device should be equipped with an integrated barcode scanner.
Screen Resolution Width:240, Height:320. Screens are designed for this resolution. Screen performance on devices with other resolutions may be sub-optimal.
Network Connectivity 802.11b
Memory Minimum of 32 MB RAM.
Note: Microsoft Active Sync 3.7 or above is required to synchronize the PC with the mobile terminal to run the Yantra 7x Mobile Application. Microsoft Active Sync 3.7 can be installed on any PC.
