Formula for calculating freight charges for UPS shipments in YCS
Symptom
PART: Carrier Server 6.2 SP2 DCS
Formula for calculating freight
charges for UPS shipments in YCS.
Cause
Resolving The Problem
1)The UPS freight charge in YCS 1.0 and DCS 6.2 is calculated as the
following:
The min_charge present in YCS_FREIGHT_CHARGE table is the
basic Frieght Charge.
To this basic charge, Fuel Surcharge is added. This
fuel surcharge is calculated as 1.25% of Basic Frieght Charge. If there are any
Special services then some extra charges are added as well depending on the
Special service (Refer YCS_SURCHARGES table).
So the final Freight
Charge would be - Min_charge + 1.25% of Min_charge + Extra Charges if any,Also
the Final Freight Charge is truncated to three decimal places before sending to
DCS..
Freight Charge = :ycs_freight_charge+ 1.25% Min Charge + Extra
Surcharges If any.
2)Dimensional Weight:
Dimensional weight is
a standard formula that considers density when determining charges. The
calculations are used to consider the amount of space a package will take up on
an aircraft in relation to the actual weight of the package.
For
domestic shipments, the dimensional weight = L*W*H / 194
You have to
compare the package's actual weight to that of the dimensional weight
calculation. And the larger weight is used to calculate shipping rates.
