Problem
When launching a new NT Hybrid DCS client, the message "Oracle Error: -12560 Sqlcode [-12560] SQLCD [ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error]..." is generated. (Need to set connect string)
Symptom
When trying to bring up the DCS GUI application you get an error "Oracle Error: -12560 Sqlcode [-12560] SQLCD [ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error]..." even after the tnsnames.ora file has been configured. (Connect string)
Cause
Resolving The Problem
The connect string must be set properly. The connect string is used by the DCS
GUI client in making the connection to the DCS database on the UNIX server.
1. Check the $BASE\files\config\whse_schema.map file in the client
installation to see if schema and connect string is set in this file. The
entry should be of the form
:Whse:Whse Schema:Corp Schema:Connect
string
2. The Whse, Whse Schema and Corp Schema can be found in the
equivalent file on the application server (Unix machine).
3. The
Connect String might not be present in the whse_schema.map file on Unix, in
which case it can be determined from the NT machine's (machine running GUI
client) tnsnames.ora file.
