Cognos 8.x: Unable to connect to db2 - content manager errors

Errors observed when verifying database connection :


Validate Content Manager database connection]
1. [ ERROR ] The database connection failed.
2. [ ERROR ] Content Manager failed to start because it could not load driver "COM.ibm.db2.jdbc.app.DB2Driver.

Solution :

The LIBPATH environment variable on AIX (LD_LIBRARY_PATH on Solaris or Linux) should point to the DB2 lib32 directory.
Verify that all the DB2 cognos user environment variables are present and pointing to the DB2 32 bit library files. Cognos 8 does not support 64 bit DB2 library files.
