Question & Answer

Question

In a drop ship scenario, order goes to "Awaiting Chained Order creation" even after checking "Create Chained Order Synchronously" flag. Why?

Answer

Firstly, a mention regarding the "Create Chained Order Synchronously" flag. This is present at the Platform-> System Administration-> Installation Rules->Backward compatibility.

Coming to the behavior of the chained order creation in the presence of this flag. Even after checking the “Create Chained Order synchronously”, the order still goes to “Awaiting chained order creation” in a drop-ship scenario. Such a behavior is as per design. It has designed the product in this way, as per the use case of majority of the customers, keeping in mind that most of them would prefer the creation asynchronously for drop-ship scenario.

Therefore, the “chained order synchronously” flag does not affect the behavior in the drop ship scenario. However, for Procurement Purchase orders and Procure transfer Order the Orders directly go to Procurement Purchase Order created or Procurement transfer order created status respectively.
