Application installation using the Java EE Application Deployment API specification (JSR-88) has been deprecated in WebSphere Application Server Version 8.0

Troubleshooting

Problem

The Java Platform, Enterprise Edition (Java EE) 6 platform has started the deprecation process for "JSR 88: Java EE Application Deployment application programming interface (API)" by declaring it as Proposed Optional. WebSphere Application Server Version 8.0 is deprecating this technology as well. The WebSphere Application Version 8.0 information center is missing a deprecation statement for JSR 88: Java EE Application Deployment API.

Resolving The Problem

Your applications can continue to use the Java EE Application Deployment API in WebSphere Application Server during the deprecation period. However, consider using another option to deploy your applications. The closest option to using the Java EE Application Deployment API is using Java Management Extensions (JMX) MBean programming. For information on deployment options, read about ways to install enterprise applications or modules in the Version 8.0 information center.
