Update JSF web projects with latest JWL libraries from Rational Application Developer before deploying to WebSphere Application Server, Version 8

Troubleshooting


Problem

You must update the JavaServer Faces widget library (JWL) libraries in JavaServer Faces web projects that are developed using Rational Application Developer, Version 7.x with the latest updates from Rational Application Developer before deploying WebSphere Application Server, Version 8.

Symptom

You might experience the following exception when starting an application in WebSphere Application Server, Version 8:

java.lang.UnsupportedOperationException: This request class is an empty placeholder
at org.apache.myfaces.application._SystemEventServletRequest$1.invoke(_SystemEventServletRequest.java:56)

Resolving The Problem

Update Rational Application Developer with the latest updates, and update the JWL libraries in the WEB_PROJECT/WEB-INF/lib folder. Making these updates resolves the exception.
