Troubleshooting
Problem
You cannot install an application or module that uses Java Platform, Enterprise Edition (Java EE) Version 5 deployment descriptors with XMI application binding or extension files on a server. The deployment fails with an AppDeploymentException error.
XMI format bindings or extensions have a file name that ends with [].xmi[
]. For example, for web modules, these files are []WEB-INF/ibm-web-bmd.xmi[
] and []WEB-INF/ibm-web-ext.xmi[
].
Java EE 5 applications and modules can use annotations, deployment descriptors, or a combination of both annotations and deployment descriptors.
Modules that use pre-Java EE 5 deployment descriptors can use XMI format binding and extension files.
Symptom
The product returns the following error message:
Message: javax.servlet.ServletException:
com.ibm.websphere.management.application.client.AppDeploymentException:
ADMA0207E: Module MODULE_NAME contains an unsupported xmi format bindings or extensions file
Resolving The Problem
To deploy an application with an old format XMI binding or extension files, you must remove the XMI format files before you deploy the application.
You can optionally install fix pack 8.0.0.1 to resolve this issue. For more information about this fix pack, see http://www14.software.ibm.com/webapp/wsbroker/redirect?version=matt&product=was-nd-mp&topic=wasv8001_readme1."
