JSR116 traffic fails indicating TCP Channel initialization failed and The socket bind failed for host and port 5060

Troubleshooting


Problem

After migration to WebSphere Application Server Version 8.0, the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) proxy JSR116 traffic might fail with retransmission timeouts and error messages.

Symptom

When this error occurs, the following error message might be displayed:

TCP Channel initialization failed.  The socket bind failed for host and port 5060.

Resolving The Problem

Delete the transport chain, UDP_SIP_PROXY_CHAIN, in the serverindex.xml file at the node level of the server where the error occurred.
