Problem
Attempts to insert pdf file as an ole object in the module and get error "Object could not be inserted" when using IBM Rational DOORS and Adobe reader X 10.
Symptom
Error: Object could not be inserted
Cause
Adobe Reader X 10 is set to protected mode at startup by default, which will make pdf files unable to be inserted as an ole object.
Resolving The Problem
To resolve this issue:
- Launch Adobe reader X 10, select menu Edit -> Preferences.
- In the Preferences window, navigate to the General node.
- Then deselect "Enable Protected Mode at Startup" in the right panel if it is selected.
