How to change the minimum and maximum Rational DOORS client version

Question & Answer

Question

How can you change the minimum and the maximum IBM Rational DOORS client version allowed to connect to a particular Rational DOORS database?

Answer

You need to login to the DOORS database as the DOORS Administrator using a DOORS client that is allowed to connect to that particular database.

  1. Select the database icon and chose Properties
  2. Select the "Login Policy" tab
  3. Go to the "Client Versions" section.
  4. In the "Minimum client version" field:
    • Type the minimum client version that you want to be able to connect to the Rational DOORS database server, in the format n.n.n.n. For example, type 9.2.0.0
  5. In the "Maximum client version" field:
    • Type the maximum client version that you want to be able to connect to the Rational DOORS database server, in the format n.n.n.n. For example, type 9.2.0.0

To check your client version click Help > About Rational DOORS.

You cannot enter a minimum/maximum client version that would prevent your current client from connecting to the database.

These restrictions do not apply to the dbadmin tool.

If you leave the fields empty, the DOORS database will not prohibit any supported DOORS client version to connect.
