Difference between the options 'Current object' and 'Current selection' while saving a View in a IBM Rational DOORS Formal Module.

Question & Answer

Question

What is the difference between the options 'Current object' and 'Current selection' while saving a View in a IBM Rational DOORS Formal Module?

Answer

The difference is explained with the help of screen shots.

1. Many Objects have been selected in a Formal Module.
The Object with ID #7 is the currently selected Object in the Module (This happens to be last Object in the selection).

2. Save a View with the options Current object being enabled in the General Tab

and Current selection being disabled of the Advanced Tab of the “Remember settings for” section.

3. When ‘View#1’ is now loaded, it will remember the Object that had been selected when the View was created.

In this example, the Object with ID # 7 would be the highlighted Object when the View is loaded.

You can observe that when you load the “View#1” the selection of Objects that had been selected while saving the View are no longer retained.

4. If you had the option ‘Current selection’ enabled along with ‘Current Object’ while saving the View, the settings for the selection of Objects would also be remembered and the View would appear as follows:
