Troubleshooting
Problem
Rational Rhapsody Gateway option does not show up in context menu when right clicking on the IBM Rational Rhapsody project.
Symptom
Rational Rhapsody Gateway option not seen in Rational Rhapsody.
Cause
Cause 1: The entry for Rational Rhapsody Gateway\Export to DOORS is not present in the rhapsody.ini file.
Cause 2: Rational Rhapsody Gateway Add on is not correctly installed.
Environment
Resolving The Problem
Solution 1: Add the following entries in the rhapsody.ini file.
Note: Make a backup of rhapsody.ini file before applying the steps below.
- Navigate to the location <Rhapsody_Install_Directory>\Rhapsody\7.x
- Open the rhapsody.ini file in edit mode
- Add the following entry in the rhapsody.ini file:

arguments7=rg SYSTEM openFromRhapsodyAndExportToDoors --createprocess --execpath "<Rhapsody_Install_Directory>\Rhapsody\7.x\Gateway\bin.w32\rg.exe" --noddestartup --args -exec openFromRhapsodyAndExportToDoors
command7=<Rhapsody_Install_Directory>\Rhapsody\7.x\Gateway\bin.w32\ddeexecw.exe
Solution 2:
- Navigate to Add or Remove Programs
- Search for IBM Rational Rhapsody
- Highlight and click Change
- Follow the On screen instructions and click Next until you see the “Add-on Installation” window
- Ensure that the Rational Rhapsody Gateway Add on - Requirements Traceability is checked
- Click Next until the Rhapsody installation is modified
