Troubleshooting

Problem

"Compile error in hidden module: ExportButtonCallback" error message when exporting from Microsoft Word to IBM Rational DOORS using the Export to DOORS button

Symptom

Unable to export Microsoft Word document to IBM Rational DOORS

Cause

This error message may occur if the file doorsdxl.tlb is not registered in the registry. This file may not be registered if the Windows user trying to perform the export operation does not have Admin privileges to edit system registry. If registered successfully, it can be found under the registry path HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{<id>}\1.0\0\win32\doorsdxl.tlb.

Environment

Microsoft Windows XP

Diagnosing The Problem

Check if the file doorsdxl.tlb is registered in the system registry or not

Resolving The Problem

To resolve the issue:

  1. Login to the system as the "Local Administrator" and perform the Word to DOORS export operation. This will register the doorsdxl.tlb file. Thereafter, any Windows user will be able to perform the export operation successfully.
  2. Export the registry file HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\{<id>}\1.0\0\win32\doorsdxl.tlb from a system where it works and import it on to a system which has the issue.
