IBM Support

Setting a compiler as default in IBM Rational Rhapsody

Question & Answer

Question

How to set a compiler as default in Rational Rhapsody?

Answer

You can set the default compiler for a configuration in the factoryC.prp or factoryC++.prp file located in the Rhapsody_INSTALL\Share\Properties directory. These file includes a property 'Environment' with the list of all supported compilers. The property looks like :

    Subject C_CG

        Metaclass Configuration

    Property Environment Enum "Cygwin,INTEGRITY,INTEGRITY5,Multi4Win32,Microsoft,MSVC9,MicrosoftIDF,VxWorks,VxWorks6diab,VxWorks6diab_RTP,VxWorks6gnu,VxWorks6gnu_RTP,Solaris2,Solaris2GNU,Linux,MontaVista,NucleusPLUS-PPC,WorkbenchManaged,WorkbenchManaged_RTP" "Microsoft"

The last value in quotes ("") is the value that is set as a default for any new configuration in a project. To set it to another value, say MSVC9 as the default compiler, change the last value to "MSVC9".
