Question
How to find out the location of a mod folder in IBM Rational DOORS without having to search for it using the unique ID?
Answer
You can find the location of an item without searching for it by reading the unique ID from the dot (.) to the left. Each pair of characters places the item in a particular hexadecimal directory, 00-1f, 20-3f, 40-5f and so on. For example the directory m00003f00.mod can be found as follows:
- From the dot, take the first pair of characters (00). Go into the v6data/00 directory
- Next, take the second pair of characters (3f). This can be found in the 30 directory
- The path to the directory is v6data/00/30/m00003f00.mod
