Upgrading Watson Explorer Foundational Components AppBuilder and ZooKeeper to V12.0.3.2 or later

To upgrade AppBuilder to V12.0.3.2 or later, you must first upgrade ZooKeeper to V12.0.3.2 or later. Previous fix packs of ZooKeeper are not supported with AppBuilder V12.0.3.2 or later.

Attention:

• ZooKeeper data from fix packs prior to V12.0.3.2 is not compatible with ZooKeeper V12.0.3.2 or later. You must back up your ZooKeeper data from versions prior to V12.0.3.2 in case you need to revert your installation to a previous version.
• AppBuilder V12.0.3.2 or later is not compatible with ZooKeeper prior to V12.0.3.2. Therefore, ZooKeeper must be updated to V12.0.3.2 or later prior to updating AppBuilder to V12.0.3.2 or later, as written in the following task.

To upgrade to AppBuilder and ZooKeeper V12.0.3.2 or later from V12.0.3.1 or earlier:

1. Back up the ZooKeeper configuration file and ZooKeeper data files for your AppBuilder configuration.
   • Attention: Later, if you need to revert ZooKeeper to a previous version, the backup file is required.
   • To view a list of files that need to be backed up, see Backing Up Application Builder System Files.
2. Upgrade ZooKeeper to V12.0.3.2 or later.
3. Upgrade AppBuilder to V12.0.3.2 or later.

Troubleshooting the ZooKeeper upgrade

If you encounter the following issues after upgrading ZooKeeper, try these workarounds:

• If Zookeeper doesn't start and you see the following message in the log file, "java.io.IOException: No snapshot found, but there are log entries. Something is broken!", open the $WEX_INSTALL/ZooKeeperData/version-2 directory and check if there is a snapshot.* file. If there is no snapshot file, copy $WEX_INSTALL/ZooKeeper/support-files/snapshot.0 to the directory.
