Installing / Upgrading to oneWEX for ICP Version 12.0.3.2

Planning - Before you deploy Watson Explorer oneWEX for ICP Version 12.0.3.2

To deploy Watson Explorer oneWEX for ICP, the Persistent Volumes listed in the Resources Required section in the Watson Explorer oneWEX Helm Chart README are required unless you use dynamic persistent volume provisioning.

See  Installing Watson Explorer oneWEX on IBM Cloud Private  before you install Watson Explorer oneWEX for ICP Version 12.0.3.2 Also, make sure to select the proper storage type (NFS, GlusterFS, etc.) that supports the listed access mode based on the Watson Explorer oneWEX Helm Chart README.

Notes:

• Watson Explorer oneWEX Helm Chart README is found after you install Watson Explorer oneWEX on IBM Cloud Private. Login to IBM Cloud Private, go to Catalog then select ibm-wex-prod.

Performing a fresh installation of Watson Explorer oneWEX for ICP

You can install Watson Explorer oneWEX for ICP Version 12.0.3.2 directly without installing an earlier version of Watson Explorer oneWEX for ICP. To perform a fresh installation of Watson Explorer oneWEX for ICP Version 12.0.3.2, follow the steps as described in  Installing Watson Explorer oneWEX on IBM Cloud Private . Note that Watson Explorer oneWEX for ICP Version 12.0.3.2 supports ICP Version 3.2.0 and Version 3.2.1 with fresh installation.

Upgrading to Watson Explorer oneWEX for ICP Version 12.0.3.2 on ICP 3.2.0 or 3.2.1

Following scenarios are supported to upgrade to Watson Explorer oneWEX for ICP Version 12.0.3.2 on ICP Version 3.2.0 or Version 3.2.1.

• Upgrade from Watson Explorer oneWEX for ICP Version 12.0.3.1 on ICP Version 3.2.0 to Watson Explorer oneWEX for ICP Version 12.0.3.2 on ICP Version 3.2.0.
• Upgrade from Watson Explorer oneWEX for ICP Version 12.0.3.1 on ICP Version 3.1.2 or Version 3.2.0 to Watson Explorer oneWEX for ICP Version 12.0.3.2 on ICP Version 3.2.1.
  For this scenario only the path of upgrading ICP first, then oneWEX is supported.

Upgrading Watson Explorer oneWEX for ICP

To upgrade Watson Explorer oneWEX for ICP Version 12.0.3.1 to Version 12.0.3.2:

1. Delete the helm release of old oneWEX.
   1. Log in to the ICP console.
   2. Go to Helm Releases menu.
   3. Remove the release of oneWEX.
2. Delete PersistentVolumeClaim and PersistentVolume of the release if they remain.
   For example,
   kubectl delete pvc -l app=<YOUR_RELEASE>
kubectl delete pv <PV_USED_BY_THE_RELEASE>
3. (optional) Create a backup of PersistentVolume.
   Refer to  Backing up and restoring Watson Explorer oneWEX on IBM Cloud Private
4. Create a helm release of oneWEX 12.0.3.2.
   Refer to  Installing Watson Explorer oneWEX on IBM Cloud Private
   Please note that you have to create new PersistentVolume using the same directory as old version to migrate your data.

Installing / Upgrading to Watson Explorer Analytical Components Version 12.0.3.2 or Foundational Components Version 12.0.3.2

Performing a fresh installation of Foundational Components Version 12.0.3.2

You can install Watson Explorer Foundational Components Version 12.0.3.2 directly without installing Watson Explorer Foundational Components Version 12.0.3 GA. To perform a fresh installation of Foundational Components Version 12.0.3.2, follow the steps as described in Installing and Integrating IBM Watson Explorer Foundational Components  for Foundational Components.

Performing a fresh installation of Watson Explorer Analytical Components Version 12.0.3.2

You cannot install Watson Explorer Analytical Components Version 12.0.3.2 directly without installing Watson Explorer Analytical Components Version 12.0.3 GA. To perform a fresh installation of Watson Explorer Analytical Components Version 12.0.3.2, you must install Watson Explorer Analytical Components Version 12.0.3 first and apply the Fix Pack 2. Follow the steps as described in Installing Watson Explorer Content Analytics  for Analytical Components.

Notes:

• During installing Watson Explorer Analytical Components Version 12.0.3 on newly supported AIX 7.2, you will see a warning message saying the version of the operating system is not supported. You can ignore the message to proceed with the installation.

Upgrading to Watson Explorer Analytical Components Version 12.0.3.2 or Foundational Components Version 12.0.3.2

See  Upgrading to Watson Explorer 12.0.x  for detailed steps. Same steps are applicable when you are upgrading from Watson Explorer Analytical Components Version 12.0.0 or Watson Explorer Foundational Components Version 12.0.0.

For other versions, upgrading to Watson Explorer Version 12 is supported only from Watson Content Analytics (WCA) v3.5 to WEX  Analytical Components (AC) v12, from WEX AC v11.0.2 to WEX AC v12, and from WEX Foundational Components (FC) v11.0.2 to WEX FC v12. From other versions, upgrading to WCA v3.5, WEX FC v11.0.2, or WEX AC v11.0.2 is required before upgrading to WEX Version 12. Upgrading Watson Explorer Foundational Components AppBuilder and ZooKeeper to V12.0.3.2

Follow the instructions in the document to upgrade Watson Explorer Foundational Components AppBuilder and ZooKeeper from V12.0.3.1 or earlier versions to V12.0.3.2.
