Abstract
How to create Event alert for Missing file using Monitored Logs feature in APM 8.x

Since IBM monitoring 8 is new to all of as I decided to create blog how to In this blog I will show how to create Situation using Threshold manager for Missing file using Monitored Logs feature.
To create instance I used simple conf file with only LogSources=<location to my file> tag. For this test I am using example fmt file which is provided together with LFA 6.3 installation image.
To create Situation open APM console and navigate to Threshold Manager where you click on + icon:
After that you will directed to Threshold Editor. In this blog I created situation with Name FileMissing, Severity Critical, Interval 1min.Under Data set select Klz Log File Status which will below let you choose available attributes for this Data set:
To create condition which will create Event when file is missing click on + sing as shown below screen capture:
New window will open where you create needed condition. In my case File_Status=FILE_DOES_NOT_EXIST:
Assign Situation to your Linux systems and confirm settings with button Save:
When above steps are done and confirmed with Save button situation is started. I have navigated to Monitored logs Dashboard where can be seen that File Status = OK
I have moved my test.log to another location so agent could not find this file and more. After sampling interval I received following alerts in my Dashboard:
