Abstract
ITM agents not visible in the Manage Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring Service console (MTEMS)

Sometimes clients are reporting, that although the IBM Tivoli Monitoring agents v6.x are installed and running on the system, they are not visible in the Manage Tivoli Enterprise Monitoring Service console (MTEMS).
What can be the reason?

On Windows:
Depend on the bitmode (32/64bit) of the agents the *CMA.INI files are missing on the system or are corrupted. For the showing example that would be:
c:\IBM\ITM\TMAITM6_x64\KSYCMA.INI
c:\IBM\ITM\TMAITM6_x64\KHDCMA.INI
c:\IBM\ITM\TMAITM6_x64\kntcma.ini
On UNIX:
Some client have installed more than one $CANDLEHOME on the UNIX (Linux/AIX) and they are running the ./itmcmd manage from the "wrong" $CANDLEHOME directory.
Other reason are.
- wrong permission on the /opt/IBM/ITM/config directory
- wrong permission on the /opt/IBM/ITM/config/.ConfigData/RunInfo_Description and RunInfo files or one or both of the files are missing or corrupted.
- corrupted or missing /opt/IBM/ITM/config/.ConfigData/*env files.
- the agent are started under different user accounts
