Groups are disappearing from IBM Rational DOORS Manage Users list

Troubleshooting


Problem

DOORS groups are disappearing from DOORS Manage Users list when DOORS configured using Rational Directory Server.

Symptom

You have DOORS configured for using Rational Directory Server. This symptom is seen by the following process:

  1. Ensure RDS 5.0 is configured with Standalone mode
  2. Log into DOORS with user Administrator
  3. Go to Manage Users window
  4. Go to Group tab and use * Refresh
  5. Create a user in RDA
  6. Create a Group in RDA
  7. Go to User's Properties in RDA
  8. Go to click Add and make this user as part of the Group you created earlier
  9. Now, go to Manage Users window and do '*' Refresh
  10. Group disappears from DOORS Manage Users window.

Cause

This is a known defect in Rational Directory Server 5.0 which has been logged as APAR ID: PK97300

The problem is specific to the exact way in which group assignments are made. If done via the user properties dialog, as described in above steps, then the problem happens.

Resolving The Problem

To ensure group disappearance not happening again, assign a user to a group via the groups properties dialog.

For example:

  1. Open Rational Directory Administration
  2. Go to Groups
  3. Right click on the group
  4. Then select Properties -> Add a member in the group.
