Problem
Error DMS-E-GENERAL, a general exception has occurred in operation 'prepare request'. DMS-E-GENERAL, a general exception has occurred in operation 'analyze'. Microsoft ODBC driver for Oracle ORA-02019 connect description for remote database not found. when attempting to run simple report against Oracle via ODBC. The tables have already been qualified less.
Resolving The Problem
Some odbc drivers pass @ character as a delimiter. The @ is used for database links in Oracle. Qualifying the tables to its lowest level will prevent any qualifiers from being passed to the database.
As per Oracle online help:
ORA-02019 connection description for remote database not found
Cause: The user attempted to connect or log in to a remote database using a connection description that could not be found.
Action: Specify an existing database link. Query the data dictionary to see all existing database links. See your operating
system-specific SQL*Net documentation for valid connection descriptors.
