Steps

For IBM SOAR deployed on a licensed version of a Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) server, do not use the security update.

This security update is for OVA (appliance) deployments. IBM SOAR appliances do not have an active Red Hat license so they cannot connect to Red Hat’s repositories to download security and package updates by using yum. The security update creates a local repository with all the updates packages and by using yum, locally, updates or installs the packages.

Clients who have installed the security update on their own licensed RHEL server often face issues with dependencies and versions due to the fact that they are free to install/update packages from any repository including Red Hat’s.

An aside, it has been identified that appliance clients who have installed/updated packages from a third-party repository have also come across problems when running the security update. This is due to dependencies which the security update is unaware of. In these situations it is recommended that the client clean-up the dependency issues before continuing with the installation of the security update.

Finally, clients who install packages via rpm may face duplication problems. RPM will allow multiple versions of the same package to be installed. When the security update is run it may fail due to their being two versions of the same package installed causing a duplication failure.
