Abstract
ECM End Of Service (EOS) Products
Body
Last Update: February 16, 2016
Overview - At times, IBM sets End Of Support (EOS) dates for software products. Once set there is time to either upgrade to the next revision level or switch to a new product. We would like our clients to be aware of EOS dates for products they use and make appropriate plans.
Q: What is new in this blog?
A: December 2015: we extended the EOS dates for IBM FileNet Content Manager 5.1.0 and IBM Enterprise Records 5.1 from Sept 2016 to April 2017. And EOS dates were set for FileNet Business Process Manager V5.1, Case Manager V5.1, FileNet Image Manager Active Edition V5.1 and Connections FileNet Content Manager Edition V3.0 Please examine the EOS table below to see if any of your IBM ECM products are listed. And in Feb 2016 we added Connections Enterprise Content Edition 5.1 which has an EOS date of April 30, 2017.
Q: What happens to my software when the EOS date is set ?
A: Nothing changes when the EOS date is set. However, it is a warning that your product support status will change on the EOS date. At that time once the EOS date is reached PMRs cannot be opened using the standard support process. PMRs can be opened if support extensions are offered and in place before the EOS. Examine the product lifecycle policy. So, this is a warning that your product support status will change on the EOS date. Review your software products using Support Lifecycle for your support requirements and planning purposes. You may determine that Extended Support is not appropriate for your site. For some products when the EOS date is reached no additional support is offered. You need to read the EOS Announcment letter to know.
Q: How do I know what is available after EOS is reached?
A: Look down the list of attached ECM Products with EOS dates set and then go to the IBM Software support lifecycle web page. Examine the Lifecycle policy to see what kind of service is offered after the EOS date.
Q: What are the options going forward?
A: Often there is a newer release of the software. So there is time to upgrade to a release that does not have an EOS date set or to one that has an EOS date much further out. Hint: you would want to do plan your upgrade path well before the EOS date is reached. If there are no further upgrades for the product then contact your Sales Representative and chart a course to move to an IBM replacement product that will satisfy your business needs. Also, read carefully the Lifecycle announcement. Often there are recommended IBM software packages.
Q: I am concerned that this table does not show my EOS dates for my ECM products, how can I check?
A: Go and search for your IBM Products at Support;Lifecycle or use the Support Lifecycle Search
Q: Where is the official IBM stuff on EOS ?
A: Look in two places. See the IBM Software Support Lifecycle policy in the IBM Software Support Handbook - IBM Software Support Lifecycle policy and also see this Tech Note End of Support information for IBM, Enterprise Content Management (ECM) products
Q: Any quick way to see the lifecycle policy for my products?
A: Yes, click on the product name in the table and you will go to the IBM Software support lifecycle page for that product.
Q: These are just ECM products in the table below, is that right?
A: Yes, If you are concerned about other IBM software or hardware products you should look them up as well to insure you have covered the entire product stack.
Q: How do I as a client stay connected?
A: Subscribe to MyNotifications, You should subscribe for all your IBM ECM products as well as your other IBM Hardware and Software products.
Q: Do you have a more Social way to stay connected?
A: Look for #ibmecmsupport hash tags in Twitter.
Q: Is this a complete list of ECM EOS Products?
A: This is the list of ECM only products that have an EOS date of April 2014 onward. To search for all your IBM products you should go to the Support Lifecycle .
