How do you decide? Do you make a checklist? Do you go with your gut? Do you get inputs from others?
Maximo 76 provides a variety of report options for you to choose from via its Open Reporting Architecture. This has been designed to enable you to utilize the reporting tool or tools that is best for your unique business, regulatory, user and project needs.
In Maximo 76, the Open Reporting Architecture includes four key options: BIRT, Cognos Reporting, External Report Integration and the Open Database Platform.
Deciding which reporting tool or tools to use within your Maximo environment is a critical decision. Reporting tools enable your users to perform their daily tasks, report on the health of your business, provide visualization of trends and issues and much, much more. Therefore, selecting the right tool or tools, can have a major impact on your utilization of the Maximo products.
To help you with your reporting choices, a new document is available for you. It reviews each of the four reporting options, and presents features you may want to take into consideration when deciding on which tool or tools to use..
The features listed in this document are not all inclusive. There are numerous reporting features in all aspects of the reporting process - including design, development, administration, execution and configuration of the report server. And within these processes - - there may be other features that may impact your selection decision. For example, if you have a set of Developers familiar with a particular reporting tool, or you have a corporate license for a reporting tool, those factors may over-ride any features that are listed here.
The most important item - is that you should select a reporting tool or tools that is best for your unique environment.
