Abstract
Maximo 7.6 Adding a second language using command line interface
Body
How do you add a secondary language to your Maximo 7.6 environment?
1) Using Tivoli Process Automation Suite Configuation Tool
Usually, the easiest most straight forward method.
Under Deployment Options section, choose the option to 'Add additional languages' and simply go through the screen to have this installed.
2) Using command line interface
However, at times, do you have restrictions with using a browser or GUI to perform certain configuration actions for Maximo 7.6.? Alternatively, you can perform the same configuration by using the command line interface.
Maximo® Asset Management includes a configuration program that is accessed from the command line. This command line configuration program performs the same duties as the Maximo Asset Management configuration program user interface.
The values that are used by the command line configuration program are recorded in your install.properties and maximo.properties files that are located under the install_home\etc and install_home\maximo\applications\maximo\properties directories. So make sure these values are correct and up to date.
Below is a list of available commands that can be used to configure your Maximo environment.
a) You will need to shutdown the Maximo Server prior to running the command.
b) Open command prompt and execute below command to install additional language
E.g. The following command line will add additional language of Japanese
reconfigurePae.bat -action addLanguages -additionalLangs ja -allowUpdateDB
Note: The logs and any errors are saved in the following directory {maximo_home}\ibm\smp\ConfigTool\logs
You will also see the database updates logs executed in the TDtoolkit logs located under {maximo_home}\ibm\smp\maximo\tools\maximo\logs
c) Once completed, you can start Maximo server and go to the login page. You will see the additional language is installed and available for use.
