Troubleshooting
Problem
After following these instructions to update your Planning Analytics for Excel Datasource so that you are not using Performance Management Hub, you open or refresh an existing exploration or quick report and your Datesource reverts to IBM Planning Analytics (PMhub).
Symptom
Performance of exploration and quick reports can be slow if the reports were created prior to updating your data source type to TM1OData. In monitoring PA administration a user will display as 'PMhub' not the expected 'Workspace'
Cause
Exploration and Quick reports carry the source they were created in. If these reports are opened and the URL in your local connection does not match the URL saved in the Exploration or Quick Report, a new Datasource will be created with the original 'PMhub' source.
Diagnosing The Problem
You have successfully deleted all 'IBM Planning Analytics' Datasource types but find each time you open the PA for Excel 'Options/IBM' window, a new 'IBM Planning Analytics' Datasource type has been recreated in addition to the 'TM1OData' Datasource.
Resolving The Problem
There are 2 options available to resolve this issue:
1 - Update the connection utility for the existing report - Scroll to the bottom of the IBM Options window and click on 'Update connection utility' and update the connection to ensure the old source is replaced with the new HUBLESS (TM1Odata) connection and say OK.
2 - Update and distribute the CommManagerSettings.xml file - This file can be found under the 'C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Cognos\Office Connection' folder. Update this file to include all possible permutations of the URL that may be stored in existing exploration or quick reports. Once this file has been updated and saved by all users, PA for excel will find a match on the server URL the next time the report is opened and no new connections will be created.
