Abstract
Do you know what your Stats files have been up to? The Connect:Direct for z/OS INQUIRE STATISTICS command can help.
Body
Sometimes it's helpful to know what is going on with your C:D z/OS Stats file pairs. You may want to know which pair is currently active, or when the last Stat switch occurred.
Use the INQUIRE STATISTICS command to quickly find out more about your Stats environment.
In the IUI, you can enter the ADMIN;INQ;ISTA command. This will give you some basic information such as:
- The number of pairs in use.
- Which pair is currently active.
- What time period is covered by each pair.
- If archiving is being done.
Here are other ways to enter the same command:
- The Batch command (DMBATCH) is INQ STAT.
-
This is the console command:
- /F jobname,CMD,INQ,STAT
Note that INQUIRE STATISTICS differs from the SELECT STATISTICS command.
INQUIRE STATISTICS provides information on the structure of the Stats files. SELECT STATISTICS is used for normal reporting; it shows the contents of the Stats records based on your selection criteria.
Check out the Administration Guide for more on Stats usage.
Additional Stats tools are documented under 'Tools to Monitor the Statistics Facility' in the Administration Guide:
