Unable to start the Ping Probe
Cause
chmod +s on wrong directory
Answer
The ping probe must be started as the root user or as a non-root user with setuid root
In the log file, the below errors can be seen :
Error: E-P_P-002-038: Could not change euid: Operation not permitted
Error: E-P_P-002-017: IPv4 socket failed: Operation not permitted
Error: E-P_P-002-037: This program can only be run by root, or it must be setuid root.
Error: E-P_P-002-017: IPv4 socket failed: Operation not permitted
Error: E-P_P-002-037: This program can only be run by root, or it must be setuid root.
As root, you need to chmod +s on the $NCHOME/omnibus/probes/linux2x 86/nco_p_ping not on $OMNIHOME\probes\nco_p_ping or $OMNIHOME\probes\<arch>\nco_pr obe.
