Maximo 7.6: Applying a Feature Pack when not connected to the Internet
Body
Hello! I wanted to share a quick problem resolution of a call (actually, Sametime messages between myself and an IBMer at a customer site) I took this afternoon.
He was installing Feature Pack 7.6.0.3 for Maximo to an installation that did not have Internet access. Following my blog post on installing a Feature Pack to Maximo 7.6, he launched IBM Installation Manager. From the Preferences menu, he selected Repositories, selected the Maximo 7.6.0.3 FP and added it to the list of repositories.
When he clicked OK to close the window, he received the message that Installation Manager could not connect to ibm.com, and could not go any further.
One of the features of Installation Manager is that it will check Passport Advantage at ibm.com to see if there are updates for any installed components, including Installation Manager itself. To stop this from happening when you don't have an Internet connection on the target server, In the Repositories screen, uncheck Search service repositories during installation and updates and click OK.
Then you will be able to proceed with your offline installation.
Until next time!
