ITM Agent Insights: A sneak peak at Jazz for Service Management (JazzSM) V1.1.3.0
Body
On June 15th 2016, IBM released the latest Jazz for Service Management (JazzSM) offering version 1.1.3.0. In some ways JazzSM V1.1.3.0 is different from any of the previous releases for JazzSM. In the latest version of JazzSM (ADMIN, REGISTRY and SECURITY) services have been deprecated. Clients who use this version of JazzSM won't be able to install the deprecated services. These services were available in prior versions, JazzSM V1.1.2.1 was the last release which packaged the deprecated services.
With these developments JazzSM V1.1.3.0 now packages only the REPORTING and VISUALIZATION (DASH) services. IBM always takes feedback from clients and based on the feedback, clients were looking only for Reporting and DASH services. They wanted to get rid of the unwanted services. Understanding these requirements only the required services were restored in the latest release. The install is much faster as compared to the prior versions.
Here is what you can see in the new JazzSM V1.1.3.0 (IBM Installation Manager - IIM) screen: The versions of DASH and Reporting services are 3.1.3.0
As compared to this the previous release JazzSM 1.1.2.1 packaged all the services. Here is an IIM screen for comparison: The versions of DASH and Reporting services were 3.1.2.1 while the versions of deprecated services (ADMIN, REGISTRY and SECURITY) were 1.1.2.1
This should give you a good idea of what to expect from the latest release of JazzSM. Do let me know if you have any questions.
NOTE: WebSphere Application Server (WAS) is a requirement for DASH, while REPORTING requires both WAS and DB2.
