Abstract
ITM Agent Insights: ASM Diskgroup attribute group cannot return an attribute value state = DISMOUNTED
Body
Knowledge Center documentation for State Attribute in ASM DiskGroup attribute group (for the Extended Oracle agent) lists values that won't occur. The ASM Diskgroup has an attribute State. In the Knowledge Center documentation one of the potential returned values is DISMOUNTED. This state can not occur due to the Oracle Table that is being used to obtain this value does not return disks in this state. This was the result of a legacy query which was changed for performance reasons.
Currently we have opened DOC APAR IJ04321 to address the changes mentioned will be reflected in the next release of the user guide. The V$ASM_DISKGROUP table used could cause problematic performance issue when run often. The table V$ASM_DISKGROUP, when called, runs a background process which does a discovery check for disk changes. This can cause performance issues when run often on some systems. The alternative is to run a custom sql query "select NAME, STATE from V$ASM_DISKGROUP;" if this is desired.
